On Periscope, South Africans will be able to follow the A+Students and experience how 28 young genius kids from South Africa showcase their talent at the PAMA (Pan Pacific Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association) Global Awards in real time in San Francisco on Tuesday, 29 December.

With a strong focus on viewing the event in real time, JustPerfect, the digital agency for A+Students by CMATHS, combined a strategy for the team of math geniuses who will be travelling to the United States.

This will give you an opportunity to experience real time viewing of an international event that gives South African kids the chance to potentially walk away with gold medals. Viewers will witness how a six-year-old can feasibly change statistics, or even have a retributive action against Japan by beating them at maths.

CMATHS, an acronym for Calculating Mental Arithmetic Tuition with the Help of a Japanese Soroban, assists children in developing both their left and right brain capabilities. At the same time, A+Students by CMATHS aims at creating a love for maths and enables learners to "see" maths.

“This is much more than a mathematics course; it heightens the skill level that learners need throughout various learning areas, like comprehension, concentration, the ability to listen and pay attention, creativity and problem solving,” says Marlene Mouton, CEO of A+Students by CMATHS.

#MakingMagicWithMaths is a campaign that A+Students by CMATHS has been running, putting their Math geniuses up against South African CEOs and public figures, such as Gareth Cliff and Riana Mooi (Mrs Globe 2015). The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds to allow more children to participate in these events, with a focus on children living in underprivileged communities in South Africa.

After being defeated by a six-year-old student, Stiaan Scheepers, Gareth Cliff congratulated A+Students by CMATHS saying; “We need as many smart Maths students in this country as we can possibly get.”

“We are so excited to be able to send these talented children to the PAMA Global Awards this year, and we are sure that they will do South Africa proud. We hope to alter the world’s perception, and encourage an influx of gifted individuals by demonstrating that South Africa does in fact have youngsters with incredible mathematics ability” says Mouton.
