He was the recipient of the Standard Bank
Young Artist Award in 2010 and his work continues to be exhibited both locally and internationally.

MacGarry has directed and co-directed commercials for brands such as Toyota, DStv, Road Lodge, Albany and Appletiser. He has also written and directed five short films, which have featured at various international film festivals. In addition to this, MacGarry was recently nominated for the 2015
Huysmans Young African Filmmaker Award.
