With a brand new venue, refreshed festival layout and a richly expanded entertainment programme, TOPS at SPAR Bierfest 2016 invites you to get in touch with your inner Germaniac, lug on the lederhosen, dust off the dirndls and get ready to party with added oompah at The Globe, Silverstar, from Friday, 2 to Sunday, 4 September.

Since inception in 2010, the TOPS at SPAR Bierfest has delivered South Africans a taste of the Munich Oktoberfest right to their doorsteps. The country’s biggest annual, national touring festival of Bavarian bier culture revels in all that is good about bier, bratwursts, pretzels, frauleins and of course – the music they call “oompah”.

“In 2016, as we mark our sixth year of being SA’s favourite bierfest, we thought it was time to shake things up,” comments Bierfest owner, Andrew Douglas.

“We are revising the layout of our big beautiful brauhaus to give patrons a more natural flow from the outside areas which lends itself to a revamp of the live music aspect of the event.”

While the traditional oompah music remains a staple, giving the authentic Oktoberfest vibe, a development will see the inclusion of South Africa’s most-loved mock rock mash-up band – The Rockerfellas. Utilising the concept of the musical “mash-up” made famous by DJs and dance music producers, this five-piece band of merry musicians blends the hits of the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s till now into a musical medley of mirth.

But it’s not just live music that bier lovers can look forward to at the TOPS at SPAR Bierfest. The Brauhaus hours are filled with opportunities for audience participation where traditional Bavarian bierfest activities are the name of the game and prizes can be won.

Tickets are available in tables of 6 or 8 and single tickets start at R125 each.
