Founded in 1999, The Sunflower Fund is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to creating awareness, educating the public, and facilitating the registration process for people to join the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).
“Our mission is both to create awareness and grow the South African Bone Marrow Registry to help those patients that have been diagnosed with leukaemia and are in need of a transplant,” says Adi Phillips, The Sunflower Fund Regional Manager: Western Cape.
Phillips continues; “We are excited to join forces with the Cell C Day Of Races. This partnership is sure to enhance the reach of our campaign. We expect to have between 1000 – 1200 runners participating in support of The Sunflower Fund. Runners will be able to purchase our funky Sunflower Fund Topes (tube of hope) on the day. The funds raised from the sales of Topes will be used to pay for donors to join the registry. We look forward to an exciting day out and can’t wait to meet new people and make new friends.”
