Published: 12 November 2012

DESTINY Man’s November/December issue transports its readers into 'the zone' – the space where everything falls into place under the spell of the 'magnate with a mantra'.

The magazine’s cover story explores the magic and mystery behind Russell Simmons, a wildly accomplished serial entrepreneur, the enigma who DESTINY Man recently hosted at the hugely successful Mazda DESTINY Forum in Johannesburg.

Simmons is amongst other things, a best-selling author, philanthropist and sought-after speaker. DESTINY Man delves deeper and finds out the formula that propelled him to phenomenal wealth. In reference to entrepreneurship, Simmons says, “Good businesses are built predominantly with passion, honesty and the desire to serve.”

This issue of DESTINY Man also features the much-anticipated Power of 40 Report, celebrating 40 of South Africa’s most dynamic movers and shakers under the age of 40 who have made their mark on the world. The youngest achiever in the report is 20-year-old Anaso Jobodwana, athlete and student, who competed in the recent Olympic Games.

“If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven’t done anything today,” says Jobodwana.

DESTINY Man also profiles cross-border entrepreneurs who have ventured outside South Africa; individuals who have discovered what is required, along with the pitfalls and how best to negotiate them.

Motivating this feature was DESTINY Man’s recent visit to Mozambique in the company of several University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science’s MBA students with an interest in cross-border entrepreneurship. A better understanding of southern African markets was a particular focus.
