SIVAJI – The box-office Boss

The much-anticipated Tamil hit film, “Sivaji-The Boss”, which has been breaking records in India and abroad, debuted in South Africa on 27 July to equally outstanding results. The movie, which opened on only only screens countrywide, did R212 409 at the box-office, giving it the highest print average of any film in release in South Africa this week (R50 604 per print). The film opened at number eight on the weekend Top 10 this weekend, making it also South Africa’s biggest opening for a Tamil film of all time. Moviegoers are clearly enjoying the upbeat action, comedy and dance sequences. The movie’s success can also be attributed to the the overwhelming popularity of its lead actor, Rajnikanth. Rajnikanth has had a prolific career, acting in 127 movies in a career that spans over 25 years. He is an unquestionable legend in the Tamil film industry. “Sivaji-The Boss” is the story of Sivaji, a respectable man from a noble family who gets educated in the United States and returns home to India with plans of opening a University to provide free education to all.
