The record was aimed to highlight the South African launch of Samsung's new range of smartphones, the GALAXY A-Series, with the activation perfectly positioned to showcase the enhanced selfie features of the A-Series range.

Samsung Electronics' attempt, in partnership with 947 FM and KFM, yielded 12 803 selfies taken at various activation points around the country. This figure is still to be verified by GUINNESS World Record and once confirmed, Samsung will receive a certificate to validate the title.

"We are thrilled to have successfully managed to get so many people to be a part of this record-breaking attempt," said Justin Hume, director of product marketing for Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics SA. "Not only was it an exciting day with so many people participating, but it also gave us a great platform through which we were able to engage with our consumers in a unique way that showcased some of the innovative features of the GALAXY A-Series range."

As a global brand, Samsung continuously identifies strategic partnerships to help find new ways to engage with its consumers around its products and solutions in a fresh and exciting way, and this GUINNESS World Record attempt is a perfect example of this.

The A3 and A5 smartphones are now available through Samsung Experience stores, leading retailers and local operators.
