DSTV has renewed its contract with ComutaNet, following its successful drive during 2007.

Encompassing some of ComutaNet’s popular offerings, and to promote DStv’s more affordable Compact Package offer, the broadcaster has signed up for the following options: interior bus advertising, Star Radio (Live reads and ads), Commuter fm; Interior Bus advertising, Star Taxi music (Special edition cassettes), Trailer advertising, Promotional Rigs, Interior Taxi advertising, and Interactive (In-queue and Taxi talk) communication.

The national Compact campaign aims to boost sales, targeting the lucrative emergent market (LSM 4-7) utilising a kaleidoscope of media opportunities offered by ComutaNet. The promotion began at the end of April 2008 and will run until early 2009.

The trailer advertising option consists of double-sided mobile billboards to take the DStv message directly to market – benefits such as flexibility in timing, location and duration provides DStv effective and strategic reach of both mass and niche markets.

The interactive campaign is being conducted at various taxi rank bases around the country and is a crucial part of the campaign’s success. Regular commuters have come to expect and look forward to seeing products featured and often approach the kiosks for information.

The average time spent in a taxi is 58 min, and ComutaNet is able to access over 22 500 taxis throughout South Africa. Interior taxi advertising panels are placed on either side of the taxi making it extremely visible when getting in and out of the vehicle and throughout the journey.
