“I am attracted to the aligned values that the FCB Group and Maharishi Institute have about making a positive impact on South Africa's next generation as well as the opportunity to lead the board of an agency that wants to extend inclusivity to a broader segment of South Africans,” she says.

Mouyeme has seen many ventures since first being appointed to FCB Africa in 2002, and the experience has seen her grow in many regards, including understanding what her role as leader means and her goals in life.

“I am more thoughtful and reflective of my leadership, and I have better clarity about what I want in life and how I can continue adding value in every interaction I have with others,” she says.

In addition to working for the global beverage brand, Mouyeme has had the opportunity to travel and explore other African countries beyond South Africa.

“I was glad to have had the opportunity to live in Kenya and work across 27 countries in Africa. I learned that the spirit of Ubuntu extends beyond South Africa's borders and that Africans are warm and receptive of others. In addition, I learnt that we all desire economic freedom and prosperity, like other countries and continents.”

Mouyeme has also learned that business is flourishing not only in South Africa, but across the continent.

“The advertising and communications industry across Africa is thriving, with some countries leading in innovative ways to engage consumers and business in a meaningful, relevant manner. South African agencies have extensive networks across the continent and this has led to sharing of business practices and approaches that are benefiting the whole continent,” she says.

A successful African business woman and a leader of the marketing world, Mouyeme is also outspoken about transformation, and making opportunities in the workplace accessible for everyone.

“Transformation is a business priority that every company, whether global or local, needs to embrace and embed in the long term strategy.  There are global case studies on how a diversified and inclusive culture leads to business growth.”

While her career is continuingly evolving and handing her new opportunities every day, Mouyeme never forgets her roots.

“I am where I want to be at this stage in my career and am energised by the opportunities Africa offers a career woman like me. I should always remember who I am, where I come from, and be grateful for the life I have,” she says.
