Recognising the importance of innovation and creativity in the mobile marketing industry, The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) SA Smarties Awards, acknowledged key players in the industry on Friday, 19 August in Durban, and Jupiter Cape Town clinched a Silver Award in the Innovation category for the work it did on The Holobooth.

The Holobooth is the world’s first holographic-selfie video booth and was revealed at the 2016 Design Indaba Festival, allowing people to take a selfie-video-hologram and show it to their friends and family outside of the office, home or conference venue. The Holobooth is a portable video booth powered by a touch-screen, video camera and propriatory software connected to the cloud. People access their hologram selfies on their mobile devices using a small viewing prism.

Dale Imerman, head of digital at Jupiter Cape Town explains: “Tapping into selfie culture and the insight that people love new ways to shape their public image, the team conceived the idea to build The Holobooth. We captured the imagination of all who tried it out and so we entered it into the MMA’s. Both the Forum and awards are important for our industry because they not only honor innovation and creativity, but most importantly measurable success.”

Kevin Aspoas, CEO of Jupiter Cape Town adds: “I’m extremely proud of our team who have created a piece of work that captures the very essence of the MMA’s mission - to accelerate the transformation and innovation of marketing through mobile, driving business growth with closer and stronger consumer engagement.”
