The 2017 FM AdFocus Awards entry process is completely online. This follows a complete revamp of the website and the setup of the questionnaires, which are completed online only and do not have to be downloaded, filled in, and then uploaded again.

Companies can also complete a section and then save it and return to the questionnaire the next day and continue the entry. A Dropbox link is also provided for agencies to upload creations.

There are nine Agency of the Year awards open for entries; Large Advertising Agency, Medium Advertising Agency, Small Advertising Agency, Network Media Agency, Independent Media Agency, Public Relations Agency, Digital Agency, and Specialist Agency. Overall Agency is drawn from all categories.

Individual awards include Lifetime Achievement, Industry Leader of the Year, Student of the Year, the New Broom Award for an individual or small agency, and Partnership of the Year, awarded jointly to an agency and client. There are also two new awards – the African Effectiveness Award and the Transformation Award.

The African Effectiveness Award replaces the old African Agency Network of the Year and requires agencies or networks to submit case studies explaining how they are having a measurable impact in the markets or regions where they operate outside South Africa.

The Transformation Award will go to an agency or group that can demonstrate its existing commitment to transformation in all its facets – not only ownership and employment equity but also social responsibility and upliftment.

Winners will be announced at the awards event on Wednesday, 22 November.
