Mackenzie joined FCB 15 years ago and is currently its deputy managing director. Her 25 years of account management experience has seen her head up brands spanning communication disciplines and categories including the automotive, banking and financial services, cellular network, FMCG, fast-service restaurant, retail, and tourism sectors.

FCB Africa group's CEO and chief creative officer, Brett Morris, says today’s dynamic marketing environment means the account leadership role must evolve much more rapidly along with the changing needs of the business.

"Agencies and other marketing service providers are no longer bound by single disciplines that do not fully participate in the consumers’ world. Instead, they deliver game-changing creative work that engages with consumers across all platforms," he says.

He adds, "By making account leadership relevant for the now and the future will ensure we drive the best client relationships that deliver insights, strategies, and work that consistently achieves this goal."

Morris says Mackenzie has been instrumental in driving this process, along with the account leaders, on some of FCB Joburg’s biggest clients. "Romaine will still be actively involved in FCB Joburg, but will be relinquishing some of her responsibilities there so she can spend time on her new group role," he adds.

Morris concludes, "I’m really looking forward to the huge wealth and depth of experience Romaine brings to the table, and look forward to the step change her appointment will make to our approach to account leadership across the group."
