Born in Cape Town and raised in Eerste River, Gordon recently obtained his national diploma in marketing from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Gordon says he initially wanted to follow a career in the media as radio presenter but chose marketing for the variety of options it offers.
"Marketing is a fun, challenging, focussed and interesting field of study. Most of my family are currently working or have worked in retail, so I thought I’d give it a try. It turned out to be the perfect choice as it allows you to grow as a person. You’re faced with various challenges and work with many interesting people on a daily basis," says Gordon.
Gordon’s responsibilities and duties include tracking social media growth, ensuring the brand identity is consistent on all relevant platforms, handling customer queries, managing sports events related to Olympic International as well as expenditure and budgeting. He reports to marketing manager Fahiem Frizlar.
According to Gordon, his greatest achievement to date was obtaining his national diploma in marketing. "I was really thrilled when I completed my studies and love working in a deadline-driven industry. Balance is important, and I always try to spend my free time with family and loved ones, either on weekends or after work if my schedule allows," adds Gordon.
Gordon adds, "[My goal for this year is] to learn and grow within the marketing sphere and become the best version of myself. I’d [also] like to further my education by doing my B.Tech in marketing, specialising in digital marketing and branding. These fields are becoming more and more crucial to business success."
