"'The Corporate Disruptors: SMMEs' is the topic of the Daily Dispatch Business Summit, taking place on Tuesday, 25 July at the ICC (International Convention Centre) in East London," says Ryan Megaw, general manager of the Daily Dispatch.

Megaw adds, "Aimed at all business leaders — from both the SMME and corporate market — the Summit will deliver insights about how SMMEs can, have and will continue to disrupt major corporations. Interviews with prominent SMMEs competing with corporate giants will unravel how they did it."

"Corporates will learn how to step-up, remain relevant and stay ahead of the game, while SMMEs will learn how to become ‘disruptors’ in their own industries in today’s fast-paced, digitally driven and consumer-orientated market place," Megaw says.

"A highlight of this year’s event will be the keynote address by Vusi Thembekwayo, a renowned international speaker, regarded as one of the most successful business people under the age of 35 in South Africa," adds Megaw.

Megaw says, "'The long-term strategy is dead — this is the age of the sprint,' is Thembekwayo’s topic, and he reveals why is it so easy for big business to be catastrophically disrupted by smaller, more malleable groups."

"In addition to the other top speakers in the line-up, we will be exploring the stories of several renowned Eastern Cape business legends, who will share their personal stories of how they grew their businesses from scratch in conversation with our MC," adds Megaw.

This line-up of speakers include:
  • Brett Sinclair, CEO of Siatik — Google’s leading cloud partner in Africa will share digital innovation insights and reveal how to transform businesses digitally
  • Justin Cohen, business strategist and international speaker, will show SMMEs how to 'pitch and win'
  • Mzamo Msita, CMO of Google Africa, will share his personal branding insights
"We created these events to bring the best possible business thinkers to the Eastern Cape, with the aim of sparking business growth and inspiring innovation in our region," Megaw says.

"This year will be our third Daily Dispatch Business Summit, following the Strategic Business Summit in 2017 and the Customer Innovation Summit in 2018. We have had extremely positive feedback on our previous summits, and our aim is to push the envelope even further this year," adds Megaw.

"We are very proud to bring this high-calibre event to Buffalo City, rivalling some of the top conferences in the country. We believe it can add tremendous value and impetus to the local business community, delivering insights that will give them a competitive edge in today’s global market place," Megaw concludes.

Tickets are available on from Monday, 20 May.
