Ogilvy’s strategy wizard, Sello Leshope has just taken over as Strategy Director at ZOOM - Ogilvy’s retail and brands at retail expert agency. The move recognises ZOOM’s growing stature in the market; its success with its clients; and its innovative work. Sello brings an enormous wealth of talent and consumer insight to ZOOM, and he will now be responsible for helping the agency sustain its ground-breaking approach to communication.

Sello is a journalist by training, a writer by profession and a strategist by choice. A Rhodes graduate, he also won a student exchange scholarship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. As an ad man, he boasts various Loeries both as a strategist and as a writer on the SAB account, for brands like Castle Lager. He has clocked up some impressive management experience, including being on the board of a community radio station. As a strategist, he’s built a reputation as an insights specialist and is highly respected for his work around South Africa’s emerging black middle class – Black Diamonds. Sello is a core member of the University of Cape Town’s Unilever Institute of Strategic Marketing, through which he has also developed and honed his skills as a public speaker, guest lecturer and consultant.

Most importantly, Sello is a team player and is delighted to be working with the ZOOM team. “ZOOM is an amazing agency. Its clients go from strength-to-strength, and this is surely what the advertising business is all about… successful clients.”

ZOOM MD, Steve Massey says: “We’re very excited that Sello has joined us because he has enormous clout and he thinks big. ZOOM is different to other agencies - we think differently. Having Sello on board to not just understand this ethos but help drive our innovative work is going to add more milestones on our journey of development.”

ZOOM clients include PEP; Cashbuild; Sportsmans Warehouse; Outdoor Warehouse; Crazy Store; Sasko; Delheim Wines; CareerJunction; Media 24; and Mweb.
