The achievement, which was also unique for an insurer, was announced at Kensington Palace, London, on Wednesday, 17 March.

"The results of the worldwide competition, which involved 4 000 brands from more than 45 countries, have been made public," says Andisa Ntsubane, head of marketing strategy and planning for Old Mutual.

The 12th annual World Branding Awards is now regarded as one of the premier events on the world's marketing calendar.

Adding to the significance of the World Branding Awards in the branding arena is its stringent voting criteria that take account of a business valuation, market research and public online voting in all the countries taking part, says the financial provider.

"We are delighted about our success in this prestigious international arena, which comes eight months after Old Mutual was acknowledged as one of South Africa's most valuable brands by Brand Finance South Africa," says Ntsubane.

"Both awards reaffirm Old Mutual's commitment to being our customer's first choice in South Africa, across the continent and internationally," Ntsubane concludes.
