"Schmalzl isn't only an Out-of-Home (OOH) specialist but someone with a broad background in media who knows how OOH fits into the big picture with all its possibilities and challenges," adds Goddard.

According to WOO, Ströer is one of the most successful media companies in Germany. The company has over two billion Euros in revenue and interests straddling large format Out-of-Home advertising. This includes:

  • the blowUP brand
  • street furniture
  • online advertising, and
  • e-commerce. 

Outside Germany, its further markets include:

  • Poland
  • the Netherlands
  • Belgium 
  • the United Kingdom, and 
  • the United States of America with its non-advertising business. 

It is publicly traded on the MDAX and the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurter Börse, according to WOO.

Schmalzl, a senior executive at media agency MediaCom before joining Ströer, is co-CEO with the company's co-founder Udo Müller, WOO concludes.
