Vuma Reputation Management, a level two BBBEE company, has been honoured with the New and Innovative Business Award at the 11th edition of the Black Business Quarterly (BBQ) Awards, held at Emperor’s Palace on Friday, 19 October.

The award is in recognition of Vuma’s innovation in the area of corporate reputation management, crisis communication, media training, government relations and the integration of social media tools into the business environment.
Says Vuma’s director of Special Projects, Shavana Mushwana: “It is most gratifying that our hard work to raise awareness of the importance of reputation management has received recognition from the distinguished ten-member BBQ panel.”
At the core of the Vuma team is passion, respect, integrity, and attention to detail and an absolute dedication to all the company’s relationships.
“We see this recognition as an opportunity to further enhance our efforts to place our business on an upward trajectory,” says Mushwana. “The Vuma team is made up of hard-working implementers, always striving to go the extra mile. Accordingly we see this award as another milestone which should spur us to strive even harder to ensure that the quality of service we offer is beyond reproach and is consistently aligned to the ethos of innovation."
“As a company we are blessed to work with listed and non-listed clients, including some of the best and biggest companies globally. They constantly present us with a complex range of reputation issues to manage. Consequently, for Vuma to respond authoritatively to the needs of our clients, we have to be in a position to provide cutting edge-solutions,” Mushwana adds.

The handpicked Vuma team looks holistically at reputation management and advises clients on all factors that could potentially impact on reputation. These include human resources, risk management, financial systems, marketing and advertising, stakeholder management and all external communications. Hence the team constantly goes all-out to improve its knowledge base and to be at the forefront of local and global trends.
“The field of reputation management is relatively unknown and in some instances a misunderstood concept in the business world. Reputation management does not start, however, when there is a crisis. It needs a proactive approach and it needs to be comprehensive,” explains Vuma CEO and founder Janine Hills.
