Targeting the prepaid cellphone market, Blue Label Telecoms’ starter packs are supplied by The Prepaid Company, which distributes them on a wholesale and retail basis, servicing the independent, formal and informal markets.

The products forming part of the Z-CARD® starter pack campaign include Blue Label Telecoms’ Baby Bonus Voucher and its Accidental Death starter pack.

The Baby Bonus Voucher consists of a R1000 cash payout for pregnant women, if they spend in excess of R50 airtime each month, for six months, during their pregnancy. “The differential of this product is that the customer is not paying any premium for the benefit, which she receives absolutely free when spending according to the minimum criteria,” says the company’s Nico Pretorius, Sales head: SIM Distribution.

The Accidental Death starter pack provides, on the subscriber’s accidental death, his/her beneficiaries with a R18,000 cash bonus payout where the subscriber has spent at least R50 airtime per month for six consecutive months.

The campaign is being delivered via the marketing of Z-CARD®'s and by starter pack representatives, foot soldiers, and advertising in local newspapers and commuter magazines.

“Starter packs are being distributed across all nine provinces to wholesalers, spaza shops, hawkers, cash and carries, retailers, and clinics, hospitals and funeral parlours,” says Pretorius.
