The previous Guinness World Record was 496 people washing clothes simultaneously.
A brand new detergent product range for the South African market, Ariel’s formula contains a special blend of ingredients, helping to remove many tough stains. It will be available in four new forms: hand washing powder, auto washing powder, washing liquid and breakthrough innovation auto power capsules.
Ariel is a world class brand with 46 years’ heritage in laundry innovation and is one of the most popular laundry detergent brands in the world today. First introduced in the UK, West Germany, Italy and Mexico in 1967, Ariel has been at the cutting-edge of product innovation with a steady stream of breakthroughs for great cleaning. Today, it is sold in over 85 countries across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, and is the number one laundry detergent in 16 of these markets and number two in a further 22, reaching millions of people around the globe annually.
The launch of Ariel in South Africa was celebrated with the biggest hand-wash event ever. The previous Guinness World Record for 'Most people hand-washing clothes simultaneously' stood at 496 hand-washers. This record was beaten by over 500 additional people when 1000 South Africans joined forces in a massive Ariel hand wash. Thousands of pieces of clothing were hand washed with Ariel and the clean clothes were donated to Ariel’s new charitable partner, the Red Cross.
Ariel has announced its commitment to the South African Red Cross Society as its “Official Laundry Partner” and will help to wash all second-hand clothes donated to the charity. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is one of Procter & Gamble’s global humanitarian partners.
Ariel understands how important clean clothes are to feeling confident and getting ahead in life. To that end, it is launching ‘Clothed in Confidence’; a new campaign empowering women in South Africa to achieve more; starting with the clothes they wear.
Ariel’s new brand ambassador, Keketso Semoko, star of the SABC3 soapie,
Isidingo will be at the forefront of this campaign. She’ll feature in free Clothed in Confidence workshops for women on how they and their families can better succeed in life. Semoko will facilitate discussions that will include how to successfully launch and manage small commercial start-ups and how what you wear can literally ‘clothe you in confidence’ and set you up for success.
