The 60 wines reviewed in the report were selected based on the performance in local and international competitions and those considered by Eedes as the best in their field.
“Rich and full, but well balanced thanks to tangy acidity,” is how Eedes describes the Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay 2012 which shows plenty refreshing lemons and oranges flavours complemented with subtle oak and an intriguing maritime note.
Awarded four stars by the Report’s judging panel, the Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay 2012 also received a Gold medal from both the International Wine and Spirits Competition and Sélections Mondiale des Vins Canada earlier in 2013. The winemaking trio behind this award winning Chardonnay, which is blended from Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Robertson grapes, comprises winemaker Pieter Badenhorst who is responsible for Fleur du Cap’s white wines, cellar-master Andrea Freeborough and viticulturist, Bennie Liebenberg.
Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay 2012 is available at select fine dining restaurants, boutique wine stores or the Fleur du Cap cellar door at around R95 per bottle.
