However, this can often leave one overwhelmed. Fortunately, as Sidley points out, there is light at the end of the tunnel. With that in mind, here are three ways in which you can repurpose your content.

Add your own spin

A great way to repurpose content that is already on your website is to add your own spin. Or as Sidley puts it, “Add your commentary”. In so doing, you will give your audience a more indepth view of a topic of discussion.

“Did you recently share an interesting article on your company’s social media channels? Think about turning it into a blog post or e-newsletter article by adding your own thoughts,” writes Sidley. “Tell readers why you agree with the author, or what you would have changed had you written it yourself.”

It will also lead you to opening up the possibility of engaging with your audience – something which every company should seriously consider.

Break up the content

The idea of repurposing something should be viewed as including the same content in a different way. Instead, it should be able expanding and taking a closer look.

“Repurposing doesn’t mean regurgitating the exact same content on a different page. It is restyling or expanding on an original piece of content so that it is useful and valuable in a different way,” writes manager of Editorial Content at MECLABS, Courtney Eckerle.

One way is to zoom in on a topic, or break the original content into smaller, and thus more digestible pieces. In turn, this will allow you to focus in detail on ideas or themes that were only mentioned in passing in the original content.

Use different formats

Along with the idea of breaking up content into bite size pieces, a great way to use different formats. Not only does this allow for a different take on something but it also breaks up any monotony that you might get with just text.

“One of the easiest ways to reuse your existing content is to take a blog post, and turn it into a speech, podcast or video,” writes Brad Smith, a partner at Codeless Interactive, LLC. “You can even take a series of blog posts around the same topic, and easily create 20-30 minutes worth of material.”

There is also another benefit, and one which Smith alludes to: “You can’t reuse text online because of duplicate content issues, which can negatively affect your SEO. But if you turn it into another format (like audio, video, or offline), then you can avoid this problem and double your content.”
