The Webbys is the definitive international digital awards show and recognises the best work from around the world in five major media types: websites, interactive advertising & media, online film & video, mobile sites & apps, and social.

Quirk are absolutely thrilled to announce their achievement. Their brief was to build a website which truly embodied Capitec Bank’s positioning, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. So they did.

Capitec Bank’s online platform is purpose-built to allow users to navigate the complex world of banking fee structures, tools and articles quickly and easily. Void of clutter and excess copy, the experience is designed on a system of graphic panels to offer relevant product, service and money management information. This allows users to experience bite sized chunks of information and delve as deep into them as they wish.

And while simplicity was the design goal, the site doesn’t lack in content or function. Aside from the full spectrum of product and business information, it also offers users a host of intelligent tools and features to help customers better manage their money.

The site needed to look and work beautifully across feature phones, smartphones, tablets and desktops running IE8 and above. So Quirk used a responsive design approach, and then used device detection to strip out unnecessary resources on phones. This approach rewards users with a fast loading, graphically and functionally rich product, optimised for a mobile user that runs off a single code base and is managed from a single CMS.

This is Quirk’s second Webby honouree, the first being in 2013 for the Col’Cacchio pizzeria #PriceSlice campaign and is the latest in a long list of accolades for the Capitec Bank website including two Bookmarks Awards, a Loerie Award and an Assegai Award.

Quirk says they are constantly inspired by the work of their international peers and are ecstatic that their efforts have been recognised by such an esteemed panel.
