The Black Spear is the top prize, awarded to entries which score above 94%, while One Rand Man also took home Gold in the Branded Content category.

In addition, Smith and King James won a Gold for Most Effective Use of Content for Johnnie Walker The Wager, starring Formula One legend Mika Häkkinen. The Wager also won a Bronze for Branded Content and Silvers for Art Direction and UX, Interface and Navigation Design.

One of the most awarded campaigns of the last year, One Rand Man is a five-part online documentary series that follows a South African man living beyond his means, who gets his salary paid to him in one rand coins for one month to give himself and South Africa a new perspective on spending and saving.

Among other accolades, One Rand Man picked up the African Leadership Grand Prix at The African Cristal Festival; Creative Circle Ad of the Year; five Golds at The Midas Awards; two Golds at The Loerie Awards; a Bronze at Cannes Lions; and the only Golds for Branded Content and Integrated Multi-Platform Campaign at The Bookmarks.

Smith also directed the sequel, One Rand Family, which recently placed at Creative Circle Ad of the Month.
