Ramasimong joins fellow vocalist, Mikee Introna, in the diverse global cast, as Burn the Floor: Fire in the Ballroom heads to The Baxter Theatre in Cape Town from Thursday, 19 May until Sunday, 5 June as part of their 2016 tour in South Africa.
Ramasimong, who made her début at The State Theatre in Pretoria alongside the Burn the Floor: Fire in the Ballroom cast, will feature throughout the Cape Town and Durban seasons of the dance production.
For Ramasimong, joining this production “is an honour” and she’s excited to be a part of this international production.
“The news hasn’t really sunk in yet, but I am excited to be one of the only two singers in the production touring SA. I can’t wait to take to the stage in Cape Town and Durban, and share this amazing experience of singing various musical genres for our audiences,” she says.
Beginning her singing career in high school, Ramasimong first performed professionally in her home town, Durban.
The songbird rose to singing prominence in South Africa since her participation as a Top 10 finalist on Idols SA some years ago, before taking to the dance floor on the hit ballroom TV show, Strictly Come Dancing.
Ramasimong then took to the theatre to put her voice to the ultimate test by performing in the stage production of Dreamgirls in 2011, and one of the biggest moments of her professional career so far.
As for Burn the Floor: Fire in the Ballroom, Ramasimong says fans “are in for a treat” and that they “should expect the unexpected”.
“What I really love about this show is that I get to perform songs from different styles of music. There are songs for every member of the family to enjoy, and the dancing is absolutely phenomenal. The magnitude of this show is really jaw dropping to say the least,” she says.
