Greg and Lucky have built an impressive fanbase with their unpredictable, playful nighttime show on
947 for the past three years. Their move to the lunchtime slot makes space for a fresh new pairing:
Zweli Mbhele and
Mantsoe Pout, who will take over the 19:00 to 22:00 shift with
The Night Show on 947.
Mbhele will be familiar to
947 audiences as he was a member of the
947 crew for three years, and hosted the early weekend breakfast show. Pout joined the station earlier this year from
Yfm’s breakfast show and has been hosting weekend nights.
“We’re very excited about these changes, not only because we feel these presenters are the very best contenders to host the shows, but also because it shows the value of investing in the development of young, new talent,” said
947 station manager, Ravi Naidoo.
Greg and Lucky started on weekend overnights and quickly showed they have a magic chemistry with the audience. They were moved onto weeknights and have proved to be committed to their shows and to creating content that works for them and their audiences.
“I can’t wait to hear what they will do in their new daytime slot as they have the opportunsity to re-create daytime radio on the station – to make it more interactive. Greg and Lucky are also excellent at working with clients to conceptualise content that resonates with our audiences, and I think there’s huge potential for them, and our advertisers, in this new slot,” said Naidoo.
“Zweli and Mantsoe encapsulate the spirit of Joburg at night, they are both young, urban and out there, and will connect audiences with this amazing city and what’s happening in it after dark,” said Naidoo.
In addition to hosting the weeknight show, from Monday to Thursday, Mbhele and Pout will also host the
Shazam Chart show, which moves from Sunday afternoon at 16:00 to Sunday morning from 10:00 to Noon.
The station also announced that Zama Dube will be hosting early breakfast on weekdays, from 04:00 to 06:00. Dube joined the station from
Yfm earlier this year and will bring a youthful energy to early breakfast.
“Following the rhythm of the city, we know that Joburg is starting the day earlier and earlier. Zama’s interest in current affairs and her opinions on what’s going on will take listeners through their early mornings and lead them into the
Breakfast Xpress at 06:00.”
