Netwerk24 is the digital destination for Media24 news brands, Die Burger, Beeld, Volksblad and Rapport.

Loubser started her career as a journalist at Volksblad and has editorial and publishing experience at some of Media24’s leading Afrikaans titles. She held roles as news editor and assistant editor at Huisgenoot, senior assistant editor at SARIE and deputy editor at Die Burger, before being appointed as Huisgenoot editor in 2012.

She has overseen the centenary celebrations of South Africa’s consumer magazines, which includes several standalone publications and the movie Vir die Voëls.

“Driving a successful paywall strategy for our biggest Afrikaans news asset has become a calling,” Loubser says. “I am honoured to be tasked with building out Netwerk24 as the home for quality journalism in Afrikaans. I look forward to working with an extremely capable team.”

Jo van Eeden, current editor-in-chief of Netwerk24 and Media24’s Afrikaans dailies Beeld, Die Burger and Volksblad, will take up new commercial responsibilities as publisher of Netwerk24.

24.com general manager, Andreij Horn, says, “With Henriëtte at the helm of Netwerk24’s countrywide editorial team and Jo on the business side, Netwerk24 now has a heavy-calibre team to ensure the future of news in Afrikaans.”

Van Eeden adds, “We’ve built the most successful paywall model in South Africa, and the next challenge is to offer our subscribers even better bang for their buck. Henriëtte’s experience and background in newspapers and magazines makes her the perfect person to lead Netwerk24 into the next phase of its editorial growth.”
