The new show, which airs on Wednesday, 5 April at 20:00 KYKNet (channel 144 on DSTV), is the next generation of cake and bake shows, Kokkedoor and Koekedoor, and whose judges, Mari-Louis Guy and chef Nic van Wyk are hosts.

Kokkedoortjies is a South African original series produced by Homebrew Films, in which contestants put their culinary skills to the test in the hope that they will impress the judges enough to make it through to the finale and win the grand prize.

A Back to School lunchbox, a midnight feast, family picnic and an un-birthday bake-off are but a few of the features that will entertain the show's audience. The action culminates in a cook-off between the young chefs on Wednesday, 28 June where only one will become the show's first winner.

The grand prize is an adventure aboard a Mediterranean cruiseliner worth R200 000 for the winner and their family, while the runner-up will win a trip to to a five-star family resort in Mauritius, valued at R150 000.

“Travel and food are two peas in a pod,” says Pentravel’s Michelle Bergset. “Both stimulate the senses, ignite the imagination and inspire. To be part of the Kokkedoortjie journey and make the winners dreams come true is an honour and delight and we cannot wait to share in the excitement that this new show will bring to young and young-at-heart South Africans week after week.”
