Harry Sideropoulos’ “No Sugar, Canderel Please!” returns to The Civic this winter. With fresh script adaptations and newly created segments, the wickedly funny one-man performance written, directed by and starring theatre impresario Harry Sideropoulos, is returning to the Civic theatre in June for its sixth South African season. “No Sugar, Canderel Please!” was written by Sideropoulos and Highveld 94.7’s Rude Awakening personality Sam Cowan. The show was inspired by Harry’s constant battle with the bulk, and the audience sees him waging the weight war and battling his demons on stage. On Harry’s inner emotions tour he revisits his Greek ancestry, explores his own insecurities, self-loathing and faces an insatiable desire for the perfect baklava. It is a thought provoking, funny and brutally honest piece of one man’s search to kick the kilojoules and be at peace with himself. The critically acclaimed “No Sugar, Canderel Please!” opens at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre on 14 June 2006 until Sunday 16 July 2006. Tickets are available at Computicket at R120. Shows will be from Tuesday to Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 6pm and 9pm, and Sunday at 3pm.
