Through research and a call to action, the show gives viewers the opportunity to see how others are making a difference in their communities. The docu-reality series will be on SABC 2 from Friday, 26 August at 18:00 and is set to be hosted by Play Your Part ambassador Kabelo Mabalane.

The Play Your Part television series is in line with Brand South Africa’s vision to improve the Nation Brand reputation and perceptions amongst South Africans.

Some of the show profiles will include:

  • The Awethu project – The project aims to help aspiring entrepreneurs with funding to start up their businesses;
  • Active citizen Zareef Minty – Minty provides motivational speaking to the less privileged on entrepreneurship, as well as mentorship to high school and tertiary students; and
  • Mogau Mosebjadi – Through The Lazy Makoti, Mosebjadi employs rural and township women to host cooking classes in local food and to sell handcrafted, locally produced kitchen accessories. Mosebjadi plans to continue her work to empower women in rural communities to earn an income through the use of local cuisine.

"Play Your Part is delighted to be back on our television screens to bring inspirational, real South African stories that aim to uplift the spirit of our nation. In 2016, the Play Your Part programme traveled across the country to engage in conversation on social change with these active citizens and communities," says Sithembile Ntombela, Brand South Arica GM, marketing.

She adds, "The series comes at a great time to further reassurance citizens that we have a nation of people who care for one another and want to contribute to eradicating social injustices and build a better tomorrow for all."

Play Your Part is aimed at all South Africans – from corporates to individuals, NGOs to the government, churches to schools, young to old, to create and to act on positive opportunities.

"It is through small acts of kindness that will build South Africa and fulfill the 2030 vision to eliminate poverty and reduce inequality," concludes Ntombela.
