The show follows a tried-and-tested gameshow format. However, questions and tasks aim to be focused on enabling people to achieve their 'NEXTs'.

Your Next Million will also be about how money can be used to help people reach their goals, whether that’s paying school fees, buying a car or even buying a house. All of this forms part of the bank’s overall campaign aim to partner with consumers on the attainment of their ambitions, 'What’s Your Next'.

"As the bank committed to the continent’s progress, Standard Bank realises it needs to change people’s lives for the better," says Tinyiko Mageza, head: retail marketing / PBBSA at Standard Bank. "Our products and services are designed to assist our customers on their unique journeys to their definition of success and, while it certainly has high entertainment value, Your Next Million is no different from our in-bank offerings. The gameshow’s ultimate goal is to give our customers the means to craft their own success."

"I look forward to the show, as it is a big deal for me. I will be interviewing the contestants before they play to win some money and just after they have played to establish what they will be doing with their winnings," adds Galane.

Mdoda, who is known for her recent role as the host of the Mzansi Magic reality series Our Perfect Wedding, will be the main host of the show and says it aligns with her ambitions for 2018.

"The show aims to help Standard Bank customers achieve their next, and I am happy to be part of it, as it will help South Africans achieve their goals, while, at the same time, allowing me to achieve some of mine for the year," she adds.

The show is broken into three segments. In round one, 'Fastest Finger', contestants are asked a single product-related question. The contestant with the fastest correct answer goes on to the next two rounds, a step closer to their million Rand 'next'.

The second round is 'Activate Someone’s Next'. In this round, contestants are encouraged to 'pay it forward' by using the Standard Bank App. The round’s winner helps Standard Bank donate R10 000 to a friend, family member, audience member, or charity of his or her choice.

Round three is 'In Spin' for a million Rand. The contestant tells the presenter and audience how the million Rand grand prize will enable his or her 'next' before spinning for the money on a typical gameshow wheel.

Standard Bank will also be giving away R50 000 to a registered NGO, which will be picked by the contestant spinning the wheel in the third round.

The show will air on SABC1 each Wednesday at 20:27 from Thursday, 15 February, giving Standard Bank Gold cardholders a chance to win a million Rand. Those who don’t have the gold card yet can apply to open one at their nearest Standard Bank branch.
