Youth Day in June has set the tone for Issue #265 with a focus on stories about young people. Most notably is Britain’s new millennial royal couple: Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

The homeless debate

The dilemma of the homeless came under scrutiny when a decision to remove sleepers from the streets of Windsor on the day of the royal wedding sparked a media debacle. The latest edition looks into similar issues closer to home with a surprising outcome.

The Big Issue Winter Warmer Fundraising Concert

Readers can now book tickets for the Big Issue Winter Warmer Fundraising Concert and blanket drive. The concert features the Cape Town Male Voice Choir, with guest soprano Louise Howlett and pianist Andre Combrink.


Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket and wrap up warm, and at the end of the evening, leave it behind to donate to a good cause. The event aims to be a spectacular evening of winter entertainment.

Support for aspiring artists

The Big Issue welcomes any donations in the form of chalk pastels, canvasses, acrylics and watercolours.
