So, what is newsjacking all about?

Well, it involves identifying a story about to go viral, and finding a way to make your brand a part of it. It is similar to ‘hactivism’, where brands identify a cause, join the fight and gain some extra media attention. However, newsjacking doesn’t have to focus on a cause, it can link to any trending story.

However, it’s easier said than done — brands need to know exactly when to start newsjacking to get the desired effect.
