Kagiso Media Radio says that it sees the venture as a way to leverage its resources in new ways. According to Kagiso, this will take advantage of an 'increasingly digital economy and its significant current market position' to introduce new solutions to targeted markets.

"We know Kevin's skills will help to drive this new venture into a growth engine for the portfolio in a short period of time," says Nick Grubb, chief executive of Kagiso Media Radio.

"Expedite will be a growth enabler, and it's brilliant to have been afforded this opportunity, which takes all the experience I've developed over the last years to contribute to real innovation with strong business development in the media space,” says Fine.

According to Fine, Expedite's strategy aims to revolutionise radio in South Africa by reverse-engineering the way radio airtime has been used and sold over the last 30 years. The strategy will introduce new business models to accelerate and scale start-ups, medium growth and established businesses.

Fine says that there are a variety of products and models that have been created to fast scale target companies. He says the intention is to 'exponentially' grow market share for these companies with the application of these models.

"Having observed the radio market within the macro-economic environment and global best practices, it's clear that change and innovation are necessary for platforms and clients," says Fine.

"We must collaborate and innovate to accelerate businesses to create high growth propositions. History teaches us that we need to reinvigorate the market and be much more solution-driven in order to drive performance results, and this is what Expedite will focus on," Fine adds.

Prior to his appointment, Fine was the general manager GM of Jacaranda FM for eight years. Speaking of his time at Jacaranda FM, Fine says, "It's been a privilege to work with a great board and leadership team to drive one of the biggest radio brands in South Africa and create a strong platform for future success."

"I'm really proud of the healthy state I'm leaving the station in, both from a metrics and culture point of view. I'm now taking the next step in my career," Fine concludes.
