From March 2020, the
OFM tribe will join the 250 million+ users worldwide who use the application. Telegram not only boasts some new features for its users, but it is also fully integrated with
OFM's systems — resulting in better communication and user experience.
Telegram aims to afford programmers the ability to use listener preferences to generate a better listening experience for
OFM's audience. Listeners are encouraged to download the free Telegram app in their respective smartphone app stores and to use the number 084 222 9497 to relay information, send in requests and enter competitions on
OFM.
"Telegram Messenger will allow the
OFM family to interact better across central South Africa and, through Telegram, we want to surprise and delight everyone who is part of it. Telegram opens up opportunities to have more fun and '#LiveTheRealGoodLife'," says programme manager Tim Thabethe.
The station says that new users will see that the messaging app looks very similar to WhatsApp. However,
OFM gives a few different features that users should be aware of:
- Telegram is cloud-based. This means that users can access their messages from multiple devices. Users also do not need to back up their messages before they switch devices.
- It's fast. Telegram is said to deliver messages faster than any other application, due to its servers that are spread worldwide for speed and security.
- This also means it's private. Telegram messages are encrypted and can self-destruct. Thre app also keeps your messages safe from hacker attacks.
- Telegram is free forever. It promises no ads and no subscription fees.
- It's powerful. Telegram has no limits on the size of your media and chats.
The app can also:
- connect from most remote locations
- coordinate groups of up to 200 000 members
- synchronise chats across all devices
- send documents of any type up to 1.5G in size each
- encrypt personal and business secrets
- storing media in the cloud, and
- build its own tools on their API.
"We are very excited about this new emerging messaging app; we believe that it will definitely better our touchpoints with listeners. One of its main benefits is ease of use with less limitations and this makes communicating with listeners effortless," concludes marketing manager Lindiwe Mtwentula.
The station additionally reports that Telegram has a desktop application for ease of use, especially if being applied in a corporate setting.
