East Coast Radio launched
East Coast Gold in 2019 after seeing a gap in the market for a unique music offering aimed at reaching the 50+ aged market. The Internet radio station aims to cater to music lovers who enjoy classics from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's.
The station says that
East Coast Gold’s success can also be attributed to its quality radio content and a strong line-up of experienced presenters.
East Coast Radio’s programming manager Zane Derbyshire says that he is looking forward to the next 12 months.
"This is a passion project for each one of us who work on it and in the coming year we want to turn
East Coat Gold into South Africa's top online station for listeners over 50 in the SEM nine and 10 segments. This market is underserved and the products on offer don't compete with what is being produced in the pop / adult contemporary space," says Derbyshire.
"The station offers traditional radio products like live reads and competitions, but with our remarkable digital audio offering, we can now super-serve a client's very specific target market in a way that's never been seen in South Africa," adds Derbyshire.
"With our stellar line-up and world-class music product, I believe many affluent listeners across South Africa will make the switch to
East Coast Gold in the coming year. With growth averaging over 20% month-on-month, this goal will be achieved in the next 18-24 months," Derbyshire adds.
East Coast Gold won a
Radio Award at the 2020 edition for its weekday
Gordon Graham’s More Music Breakfast Show, which was named
Best Internet Radio Show.
Seasoned radio personality Damon Beard, who was with
ECR for 28 years, now hosts the
East Coast Gold Drive Show from 13:00-17:00. Jane Linley-Thomas and Graham present their shows from KwaZulu-Natal, while the Alex Jay is in Gauteng.
The station has also announced that, as of Monday, 9 November, Dave Guselli will be joining the team.
East Coast Radio's managing director Boni Mchunu says she is proud of the team. "
East Coast Radio has always been a trailblazer in business and continues to pursue innovative projects in order to drive business growth. To the entire
East Coast Gold team, congratulations and well done. We look forward to many more years of success," concludes Mchunu.
Listeners are encouraged to tune in via the
ECR app or on the station's website. The show is also live on other platforms including Alexa, MyTuner, Radio Garden, iono.fm, Radioline and OpenRadio.
