But most notably, it honours self-expression and encourages embracing one's personal style, adds the duo. The House and Leisure team have striven to take the essence of the word 'Bloom' and interpret it both literally and figuratively throughout the bold and bright issue.

In collaboration with Plain Tiger, an online shopping destination, the spring issue also promotes the launch of the shoppable Bloom Collection, which is an array of decor and design items hand-picked by House and Leisure's editors.

The team has indicated that there's another opportunity to shop-the-issue on page 46, with the Happy Hour styled shoot.

The issue's Live chapter features the homes of people who truly live and embrace their personal style. The magazine poffers a glimpse into the spaces of:
  • Sumien Brink
  • Ina Paarman
  • Michael Chandler, and
  • Nicholas Hlobo,
Interviewed by friends, industry peers and colleagues, each narrative is as much about the spaces as the people who live in them, says the magazine.

"Each of these individuals have a unique story, style and point of view and you can see it reflected in their homes. Their spaces serve as a brilliant reminder that we're here to celebrate and enjoy style in all its incarnations," says Charl Edwards, editor in chief of the magazine.

The issue also aims to honour South Africa's heritage through food and recognises the things women are doing in various industries.

The team has also just launched the free House and Leisure app for smartphones and tablets, now available on both Apple and Android. The app allows readers to:
  • preview past and present issues
  • order and download copies
  • read and purchase selected issues from House and Leisure’s 28-year-old archive
  • view exclusive offers, and
  • shop its collections.
The app is available for download here

House and Leisure's 'Bloom' issue will be on shelves from Wednesday, 25 August and is available to purchase via the app and the House and Leisure website.

To have the magazine delivered to one's door quarterly, or to gift a subscription to a loved one, individuals are encouraged to subscribe through the new app, as well as via the website.
