For the past 15 years, Capetonians have been passionately rallying behind this phenomenal cause, donating blankets and non-perishable food items, helping those out in the bitter cold and quite literally saving lives, says the station.

The 2024 campaign will run throughout May and June, with weekly handovers — handled by Community Chest — to ensure that aid reaches those in need on time to protect them against the winter chill.

Everyone is encouraged to help by making a cash donation via the trusted online Community Chest donation portal, by dropping off new blankets and non-perishable food at the Good Hope FM studios, located at 209 Beach Road, Sea Point or at any one of the following outside broadcasts where Good Hope FM presenters will be there to meet you:

  • Saturday, 4 May 09:00 to midday HomeChoice, Wynberg
  • Tuesday, 7 May 06:00 to 09:00 Star College, Bridgetown
  • Tuesday, 14 May 06:00 to 09:00 Golden Grove Primary, Rondebosch

Members of the public and Good Hope FM listeners can spread the word and challenge friends, family, colleagues or even your competition to match or beat your donation, using the hashtag '#GoodHopeFMKCTW24', according to the station.

Good Hope FM's acting business manager Michael Bossenger says, "Good Hope FM is about so much more than award-winning radio. We are absolutely committed to assisting communities who are in dire need and making a practical difference across our listener base, especially during the winter chill where too many are left without even the most basic necessities."

"We strongly encourage the people of Cape Town, our business partners and the business community at large to jump in and do whatever they can to help," adds Bossenger.

Community Chest's Interim CEO Peter Heeger says, "Community Chest is thrilled to be associated with Keep Cape Town Warm. This campaign, which has been running for more than 30 years, serves as a ray of hope for vulnerable and underprivileged people in our city."

"We know the conditions that the people of Cape Town endure during the harsh winter months, and we continue to work to eradicate poverty through our programmes and projects. Keep Cape Town Warm is a highlight in our calendar, as it allows ordinary citizens to show that they care," adds Heeger.

"We appeal to all Capetonians to again support this wonderful initiative, and we challenge businesses to get involved by both giving and collecting among their staff and then doing drop-offs at the nearest Good Hope FM outside broadcast," Heeger concludes.

Updates on the progress of the campaign will be aired daily on Good Hope FM, concludes the station.
