As the Proteas women's team prepares to embark on their quest for a maiden World Cup title, SuperSport will be the exclusive home for every moment of the action, emotion and history-making cricket, says the broadcaster.

Ahead of the spectacle, SuperSport catches up with Proteas spin bowling all-rounder Suné Luus for an exclusive chat. Luus provides a unique perspective on the team's mindset, preparation and burning ambition at the ICC Women's World Cup, adds the broadcaster.

"We have a lot of depth in this team, and the youngsters coming in don't fear anyone," says Luus. "The energy they bring lifts everyone else. Combined with the experienced players, it gives us a strong balance — We've got a winning mindset, and we're trusting the process."

Luus's sentiments encapsulates the new-found belief and confidence within the Proteas camp as they head into the tournament as one of the favourites to lift the trophy, says the broadcaster.

The team enters the World Cup on the back of a morale-boosting series win against Pakistan, a warm-up designed to help the squad acclimate to the sub-continent conditions they will face in India and Sri Lanka, adds the broadcaster.

This victory has instilled a steely resolve in the team, and Luus believes their preparations have been meticulous. "I think women's cricket is in a very crucial stage, and preparation is key," says Luus.

"For me, it's about keeping the stumps in play. Later in the tournament, the wickets might turn more, which will help the spinners," adds Luus. "In the early stages, it could be more about pace, mixing it up, slowing it down, then bowling a bit quicker when needed. That variation will be very important."

Luus, who captained the Proteas at the 2022 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, and who is an integral part of the team's all-rounder core, speaks about the group's mindset. "We're lucky to have a lot of good all-rounders in the team. We're in good form at the moment and there are some youngsters coming through as well," she adds. "Having those all-rounders balances the team really well. The mindset is to attack as soon as possible, but also to adjust depending on conditions."

This dynamic approach aims to be a key factor in their bid for glory. While the tournament schedule is challenging, Luus remains focused on the present. "For me, all the World Cup games are the same. Every team you play is important and every game matters. You have to be at your best in all of them."

The Protea's all-rounder says the team will be focused on a game-by-game strategy at this year's spectacle, a strategy that has worked well in the past, says the broadcaster.

"The plan is to take it one game at a time," she says. "I think in the last couple of World Cups we've done that well, and it's something we need to keep focusing on. Stick to the plan and don't think too far ahead."

As a senior player, Luus is also focused on her role as a leader and a contributor. "You always want to contribute. It's about being there for the younger players when they lean on you, and also making sure I play my part, whether with bat or ball to help the team cross the line."

The Proteas' World Cup journey is set to be a rollercoaster of emotions and skill, with key fixtures against some of the world's best teams. SuperSport aims to bring all the thrilling coverage, starting with their opening match against England on Friday, 3 October. The team will then face New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia in a challenging but exciting schedule, says the broadcaster.

Luus, who has played in India before, is particularly excited about the atmosphere. "Cricket supporters are amazing everywhere. In India, the atmosphere is always incredible," she says, "The fans are passionate, and while they love their team, they also appreciate good cricket no matter who is playing. It's very special to play in front of them."

SuperSport is proud to be the home of this historic event, and aims to bring viewers all the thrilling coverage as the Proteas women look to write their names into the history books, concludes the broadcaster.
