Good Hope FM’s early evening show host, Natalie Becker has resigned from the station to focus on her acting and television career, and will present her last show on Thursday, 27 August, between 19:00 and 22:00.

Natalie Becker, who hosts 'Cape Town After Dark' on Good Hope FM, Mondays to Thursdays from 19:00 to 22:00, won the 2008/2009 South African Film and Television Golden Horn-Award (SAFTA) for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The World Unseen earlier in the year, and is now seen in cinemas worldwide and in South Africa in one of her biggest film roles yet, in Disgrace, starring along John Malkovich. Natalie’s new projects will include film as well as hosting a new South African television show.

“Good Hope FM has been an amazing and memorable experience; I was part of an amazing team and am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of it. I wish them all well. I love radio and it will definitely continue to be part of my calling,” says Becker.

Becker is a radio and television personality; actress; speaker; MC; and writer, and has worked on various prestigious high-profile productions and broadcasts. Apart from presenting 'Cape Town after Dark' on Good Hope FM since October 2006; she has also presented Free Spirit, a conscious living lifestyle television show, for the past three years.

“Natalie advised us earlier in the month that she will be leaving the station as she feels a need to pursue her promising acting career and also focus on her career in television. She has been a wonderful team player with a wealth of radio experience and we are sorry to see her go, but wish her well with her future career ventures,” said Programme Manager, Gerard Muller.

Natalie has featured regularly in various South African magazines; numerous student publications; and youth websites. She is one of South Africa’s sought after actresses and has featured in a number of South African and international productions, namely The Red Phone; Super Nova; Consequence; Big Okes; SOS; Fishy Fashions; Ali Barber; and South African mini-series, Interrogation Room. She also appears in various music videos.

Becker filmed four international movies in 2007 and 2008 and appears in the movie Disgrace, based on J. M Coetzee’s novel where she plays opposite John Malkovich. She filmed The Deal, alongside William H. Macy and Meg Ryan in 2007/2008 and was chosen to star in Scorpion King 2, a Universal Pictures Film (released worldwide October 2008) in the role of Astarte, winning the role from a number of handpicked international actresses. She also starred in the international award-winning The World Unseen, directed by author Shamim Sarif. Becker also starts filming of a movie for BBC called Atlantis on 31 August.

Becker has just signed up for a new television show called Tropika Island of Treasure as a presenter alongside DJ Fresh, and will start filming in Zanzibar in October. This television show will be aired during prime time from late October onwards.

From Monday, 31 August, Stephanie B will be the stand-in presenter of the weekday show, Mondays to Thursdays, between 19:00 and 22:00, until a permanent presenter for the show is appointed. Stephanie currently presents Weekend Injection on Good Hope FM on Fridays from 19:00 to 22:00 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 18:00 to 22:00.
