Discover the world of three unique living adventurers, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston; Sir Ranulph Fiennes; and John Simpson.
Each renowned and colourful character takes the other two into their world, resulting in three exceedingly difficult and dangerous journeys, criss-crossing the globe to some of the remotest places on Earth.
Knox-Johnston, the first man to circumnavigate the globe alone without stopping, takes the others to the terrifying seas of Cape Horn.
Ranulph Fiennes, the great explorer who likes to pit himself against the harshest elements on Earth, takes his fellow adventurers to one of the planet’s least forgiving environments; the North Pole.
And John Simpson, the BBC reporter whose instinct it is to return time and again to the most dangerous countries in the world, leads the others to the perilous, war-torn Helmand province in Afghanistan – a region that Simpson is passionate about despite having nearly lost his life there on more than one occasion.
Although sharing a spirit of adventure, the three men have very different characters, adding to the fascination of this compelling three-part series.
Top Dogs: Adventures In War, Sea And Ice (3 episodes) - from Thursday, 3 December at 22:30 on BBC Knowledge (channel 251 on DStv).
