MyBroadband reports that after reviewing its research about the potential for an adult channel on DStv, MultiChoice has confirmed that it has no intention of launching such a channel.

According to the company, the research indicated that a significant portion of DStv subscribers are against adult channels; some are indifferent; and another significant portion is positive about such an inclusion.

Group CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, Nolo Letele, said: “It was unfortunate that the research conducted was misinterpreted by some people to mean that a decision was made to introduce an adult content channel on our bouquets.” He explained that MultiChoice regularly conducts research to test viewer tastes and impressions of new channels to improve customer service. The current bout of research focussed on adult content as some competitors set to launch in South Africa may or may not include adult channels on their services.
