Monday, 1 October saw the Top 14 Idols Results Show end in tears as Jarred de Kock and Dominique “Nicky” Burger’s experienced the end of their dreams to become Idols. Idols voters tallied another record voting round, bringing in 871 000 votes. A little fun was thrown into the mix this week, as Colin invited Bjorn, Munro, Caroline, Andriëtte, Jody, Carla and Dominic onto stage with him. They were not sure whether they were in the top half or the bottom half of the judges’ votes. He revealed the results only after an agonizingly long commercial break. The viewers’ vote corresponded with the judges’ vote this week, and the group on stage with Colin was safe. Sabelo, Daniel, Jarred, PJ, Nicky, Tender and Yolanda were on unsteady ground. Sabelo was given another chance, as were Yolanda and Daniel. However, Jarred became the first casualty of the evening. As Jarred gave his last performance, PJ, Nicky and Tender waited to find out which of them would be the next to go. Dominique “Nicky” Burger was the next victim of the votes, but she could not even manage to give a last performance through her tears. Idols on Sunday, 7 October is the viewers’ final chance to vote for their favourites in the Top 10 phase. Voting lines will close just before the end of Monday’s live Results Show. Thereafter, the show moves to the Standard Bank Arena, where viewers can watch their favourites live. Idols is broadcast on M-Net every Sunday at 17:30 and every Monday at 19:00.
