Steven (Broderick) is a designer who is rather dejected over his recent breakup with his girlfriend. When he moves into a new apartment, Steven meets Chip, who arrives to install his cable. Before he knows it and whether he wanted it or not, Steven has a new best-friend in the unbearable and obsessive Chip (Carrey).

However, Steven soon learns that obnoxious is a walk in the park compared to Chip's behaviour when Steven tells him he doesn't want to be his friend anymore. What's worse, no one, including his ex-girlfriend or his family, believes Steven when he accuses the seemingly harmless Chip of being a wicked menace.

The Cable Guy was directed by Ben Stiller and also stars Leslie Mann; Jack Black; and Owen Wilson.
