The best artists on the Afrikaans music scene gathered at Sun City’s Superbowl in November for an unforgettable extravaganza, the annual
Huisgenoot Skouspel. To celebrate family magazine
Huisgenoot’s 90th birthday, this year’s event was even bigger and better than before.
The line-up included performances by twenty of the country’s best-selling artists. Viewers will see how the likes of Steve Hofmeyr, Kurt Darren, Chris Chameleon Dozi and Valiant Swart rock the stage and enjoy the beautiful voices of Jannie Moolman, Rina Hugo and Brandon October, amongst others. One of the many highlights of the evening was a crazy act by Robbie Wessels. His performance of the controversial song “Leeuloop” had the audience rolling with laughter.
Huisgenoot also recognised Laurika Rauch’s incredible contribution to Afrikaans music with a special award. Alvin Bruinders and Margit Meyer-Rodenbeck, also known as Dowwe Dolla, were the hosts of the show.
