The top four results show kicked off on an exotic note with a vibrant performance from Bollywood superstar Tarina Patel, but then it was unfortunately time to send someone home.
Idols host ProVerb went straight to the heart of the matter, announcing Cape Town’s Mark Haze as the first contestant to make it through into the top three group.
Appropriately, since he was the guest judge at the Cape Town auditions where Mark auditioned, Danny K was another special guest artist on tonight’s show, performing his latest hit,
Barricade.
Shortly afterwards ProVerb announced that Crushanda Forbes from Kimberley was also safe, which left only Dave van Vuuren and Freddie in the hot seat.
The media personalities and celebrities on the red carpet after Friday’s Top 4 recording hazarded a guess at who might be going home this week and The Wild star James Alexander and Simon Hodgeson from lovesamusic.co.za both predicted it would be Mark. Samantha Brighton, the gossip and TV editor for
Channel 24, and LeeRoy Wright, singer, TV presenter and
UJFM 95.4, picked Freddie. And celebrity journalist and
Heart 104.9FM radio personality Clayton Morar and
KFM 94.5’s Stacey Norman hedged their bets and said either Freddie or Mark would say goodbye.
With only three contestants left in the competition, this is the business end of
Idols Season seven. This Friday, 23 September at the Home of
Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg, Dave, Crushanda and Mark will each perform three numbers, including a song from the year they were born, and the special guest act is the electric quartet Sterling E.Q, perhaps best known for the All Access on Mzansi Magic theme song. Tickets are available now from Computicket.
Idols season seven is broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic every Sunday at 17:30. Get the lowdown on
