Jacaranda 94.2 is South Africa's largest independent radio station. The station broadcasts in English and Afrikaans and has a footprint that covers Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and the Limpopo province. According to October 2006 RAMS (Radio Audience Measurement Survey) for the last seven days, Jacaranda 94.2 boasts an audience in excess of 2.451 million. Kagiso Media acquired a controlling interest in Jacaranda 94.2 in August 2004 - owning 80% of the station. Broadcasting in English and Afrikaans 24 hours a day, Jacaranda 94.2 creates radio that is both innovative, informative and entertaining, with programming constructed around its 'feel good' positioning and a deep, intimate understanding of its target audience. Listeners are between 25 and 49 years, and fall in the upper LSMs. They are mature and family orientated. Under the direction of managing director Mike Silum, the station underwent a re-branding project in August 2004. Since then, the station has sported a new look and feel in both corporate identity and content. The station's play list comprises of ‘Life's Greatest Hits’ with music from the 80s up to today's current hits, as well as interactive features. As part of the re-branding, it introduced its unique no-repeat music policy from 9:00 to 16:00. Breakfast with Kieno and the Angels and afternoon drive with Martin and Riva remain flagship shows.
