Die Kat Se Snor is fast becoming the new darling of the Afrikaans music industry, their songs having made an appearance in 2011’s hit local film, Hoofmeisie. The film hit cinemas nationwide in December last year and featured four Die Kat Se Snor songs; Hoofmeisie, Skroefie Los, Hier By My and Almal Wil Net Liefde Hê where the industry sat up and took notice.

The music video for the movie’s title track; Hoofmeisie, received over 3 000 hits in the first week of its release and was credited as one of the 26 most watched musicians/groups on the YouTube channel that week.

The group was established at the end of 2010 by lead singer, Kobus ‘Die Kat’ Dippenaar and bass guitarist, Gerhard ‘Pappa G’ Oosthuizen whom, in true South African style around a ‘braai’ with friends, decided to give people their zest for life back through music. Joe Dippenaar on guitar and Andrew ‘Spac’ Lingwood on drums brought the final masterpiece to completion.

True to their aversion to thinking inside the box, ‘Die Katte’s’ music can only be explained as “Better-To-Be-Yourself-Tapping-Your-Foot-Sing-In-The-Shower Afrikaans rock music”. The vibrant group delivers an energetic performance on stage that brings an extravagant colour to a night out with friends or family.

The members of ‘Die Kat Se Snor’ are particularly passionate about charity work and where possible, seek opportunities to assist credible organisations in their works to make the world a better place for others. Their latest project is to create awareness about CHOC (Cancer House for Children).

During November last year, the group officially adopted CHOC and amongst other events, they entertained the young patients and their parents at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg. ‘Die Katte’ will in future make use of every opportunity to encourage others to get involved with CHOC. The organisation's main goal is to make life better and easier for kids with cancer by offering practical assistance to children and their parents during the treatment period.

So if you love to be yourself, then get involved in the ‘SNORe’volution. All ‘Katte’ and ‘Snorre’ are welcome.
