Amazing Man is Chaka Chaka’s 22ndalbum, and she has put together a work that reflects her creative force, love for mankind and remarkable talent in a way that bespeaks her years of dedication to a life in music – a life that has meant so much to so many people. She tackles a range of topics – from love to death and war – never shying away from inciting change through music.

Her song writing skills are evident throughout this album even though the 'Princess of Africa' was assisted by Thulani Shezi, Alf, XIII BIS Music, Patrick Abrailo or Mfumu Mhinga in writing these songs. And as an added extra, Chaka Chaka featured Youssou N’dou, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Soweto Gospel Choir and Zuluboy, further proving why she is a legend in the music industry locally and worldwide.

Chaka Chaka describes each track on the album with the same care and attention she used to breathe life into the songs. Khuzani Bo! is the lament from the whole society of substance abuse. “How can we just sit when our children are dying? This is unacceptable, Khuzani bo!” she says.

The title-track, Amazing Man, is a tribute to the man of the world, Madiba and all our African leaders who gave us back our dignity and to celebrate Africa. “Madiba, you are indeed an Amazing Man,” Chaka Chaka explains.

Chaka Chaka clarifies the title of Well Organised Man (Woman) as follows: “I’m sure everyone will agree with me when I say we’re all men on earth, but some of us who bring life into this world can be described as a Well Organised Man (Woman).”

Mama is a dedication to Chaka Chaka’s mother, who she describes as “a loving mother, friend and mentor. I really miss you, Ntombika Ngwenya”, she adds.

Stop The Pain is a message of encouragement and support for all those who have lost their loved ones. The album also includes a particularly soul-stirring acapella rendition of Stop the Pain. Yesterday is dedicated to all of us when we were brothers and sisters in a close-knit family. Now the struggle is gone and it seems we’ve lost trust and the faith. Why?

Imali Ayikho deals with the fact that most South Africans work very hard, but live from hand to mouth. Zuluboy joins Chaka Chaka on this track. Slow Down talks about the ever-present topics of greed and war. Proud to Be addresses the issue of people dying from fake medication – Chaka Chaka tackles this injustice with the fire that she has become known for throughout her career.

Chaka Chaka’s endearment to her fans take president with this album. Amazing Man was a labour of love – first and foremost for her fans. “Thank you to all my fans that have supported me for the past 27 years. It has been a great long fascinating and lovable journey. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that music is a universal language. I’ve seen faces and places; I’ve managed to be a great advocate and I’ve tried to change people’s lives all through my music. This indeed is a blessing,” she says.

With her continued commitment to people and her divine love for music, Yvonne Chaka Chaka continues to break barriers and champion causes that few others would dare to. This is evident on Amazing Man – a brilliant collection of passionate, beautiful songs that reifies Chaka Chaka’s reputation as a legendary musician and an amazing woman.

Amazing Man is currently in stores, countrywide.
