The duo will be accompanied on piano by Eugene Joubert.
Louw, who is the producer of
Aria! Opera for Everyone, says that the production has come a long way since its launch in 2010 - from one concert only in its first year to five successful performances in 2013.
Opera singers who performed with Louw in 2013 include soprano Hanli Stapela, the West Rand based Pro Cantare Choir, baritone Daniel Verster and most recently baritone Aubrey Lodewyk.
2014’s season of
Aria! Opera for Everyone will see a dramatic face lift for all six performances with the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra accompanying the first three concerts of the year in February, April and June.
Another youth orchestra will be contracted for the second half of 2013’s performances in August, October and December.
Lombard, who made her debut in 1994 at the Pretoria State Theatre as Anina in
Verdi’s La Traviata, a role that secured her the prestigious FNB
Vita Opera Award for Best Newcomer, has been involved with each of Louw’s productions in 2013, both as musical and artistic advisor.
